Happy Election Day, DMV. It’s Tuesday, Nov. 3.
I sense some nerves. We are going to breathe through it and focus on fall.

(Larry Cook)
D.C. resident Larry Cook, 73, captured the above image of the U.S. Capitol while out on a walk Sunday. “The balmy day had brought many folks out to enjoy the changing colors and just sit in the afternoon sun….”
Our foliage is brilliant, ablaze. Gold and orange cling to the increasingly bare branches, then take flight in even the lightest gusts of wind. My family and I try to catch the leaves before they touch the ground, but they move through the air all herky-jerky, so the game is harder than one would expect.
I biked last Friday to visit a friend and posted this video from the Northwest Branch Trail near Hyattsville, Maryland.
Each time I venture outside, I look and listen for the leaves. I love hearing them rustle beneath my feet. There’s a word for the sound they make: the susurrus (whisper) of the leaves.
(Noe Todorovich)
Noe Todorovich, 44, of Arlington, shared the leaf photo above and the one below.
“Fall is my favorite season and from September through November,” she wrote in her submission. “I can't stop documenting the changing leaves and lovely golden hour light during evening walks with my dog in Arlington.”

And a song for you today …
Before yoga class yesterday evening, my dear friend — a Daily Dose reader and yoga teacher — played this song by Sara Bareilles. The words convey stress, while her voice and the melody soothe. We listened and danced.
Dear readers: I consider my Daily Dose a community gratitude journal. It’s free, and I work on it solo, spending hours each day mining for story ideas, interviewing and exploring. Please consider supporting my work with a monthly or yearly donation to help make this project sustainable. Do you know anyone who would enjoy reading me? Forward this to them to help me grow. For newcomers: To subscribe, click here. And to those who already support me: I appreciate you.
