Happy photo Friday, DMV! It’s Sept. 18.
Creative Mornings DC — which holds free monthly events for the creative community — sent out a last-minute request this week for proposals to give a talk this morning. I banged out my pitch and put my name in the hat. They said yes. Woot!
Today I hand it over to David Seletyn, 53, of Ashburn, Virginia. David, a rower, told me in April about his masters rowing club — the Northern Virginia Rowing Club — which has members ranging in age from 25 to 72.
In late July, he sent me this pic of a midsummer morning on the Occoquan River.

(David Seletyn)
“On Friday, July 24 at 6:00 AM, I went for an early morning row. This is the first time I have been on the water this early at the Occoquan,” he wrote in his submission.
“I was helping one of our crews train for an upcoming regatta. One of their members couldn’t make the practice, so I was filling in for them.
“If you zoom in on the mist in the background, you can see early morning scullers carrying their singles on the dock. The mist is referred to as ‘water smoke’ instead of fog because the air temperature — 60 degrees that morning — was so much cooler than the warm water. It was a good, brisk row, and I was able to still get to work at 9:00.”
