Happy photo Friday, DMV! It’s Oct. 16.

Last Friday, I shared a photo from D.C. resident C. Stewart Verdery Jr. of a buoy that had washed ashore in Dewey, Delaware.

Hours later, another reader Constantia Rioux, 66, and her husband Sean Eustis, 58, came upon the very same buoy.

“On the day you published Stewart Verdery’s photo of the beached buoy, my husband and I were heading out to visit the Delaware beach where we got married 17 years ago. That night we went for a walk along the shore and encountered the buoy. ‘Hey!’ I said, ‘I know about this thing!’ I was pretty pleased at the coincidence,” Constantia, a resident of College Park, Maryland, wrote to me.

“Anyway, we came back the next day to take photos in daylight, and I offer this shot with 5’3” me provided for scale so you can get a better sense of what the buoy is like. People are covering the buoy with stickers and graffiti. The light is still operational & blinking.”
