Happy photo Friday, DMV! It’s Nov. 6.

This pic below from Jessica Hirschhorn — 74, of Bethesda Maryland — captures exactly how I’m spending these leaf-peeping days.

(Jessica Hirschhorn)

“This was during a 31-mile ride around the agricultural reserve of Montgomery County, which is a special area of 95,000 acres that is maintained as farmland by law,” Jessica wrote to me in an email.

I’ve been asking readers who send in photos what they’re reading, watching or listening to lately. Jessica said: Ina Garten’s new podcast “Be My Guest,” “Science Vs” and, she added, “I just downloaded Hugh Bonneville narrating the Sherlock Holmes stories, which I have always loved.”

Here are a few more of your fall photos.

(Kimberly Van Wagner)

Kimberly Van Wagner, 66, of Alexandria, Virginia: “I took this photo [Thursday] on my sunrise dog walk through Huntley Meadows.”

Kimberly is reading “The Matriarch Effect” by Robyn Short, which was recommended by her mentor.

(Dan Woolley)

Dan Woolley, 71, of Herndon, Virginia, emailed me this photo he took at Frying Pan Farm Park.

“I walk most days, and [yesterday] I needed to escape my office, so I headed out as the sun was casting long shadows through the trees — such a peaceful way to close the day,” he wrote to me in an email. “There are times when finding a quiet place along a less-traveled trail helps bring the world back into focus.”

(Mike Finkelstein)

Mike Finkelstein, 65, captured this image in his neighborhood in West Springfield, Virginia.

Responding to my question about what he’s reading, watching or listening to and why, Mike said: “Lately, the news — large doses of MS NOW and CNN. You already know why.”

🎺 Things to do

In January, my family and I went to the Dupont Underground arts space to see “The Trumpeter,” a play about the last surviving member of a Ukrainian military band sheltering from Russian bombardment below the steelworks of Mariupol in 2022.

The performance was underground in D.C. The production included the sounds of bombs pounding the area. The audience moved around the tunnel, as if we, too, were sheltering. The experience was immersive and impressive.

“The Trumpeter” has returned this month to Dupont Underground. It opened Wednesday and continues through Nov. 22.
