While reading in this weekend to catch up on news in D.C., what caught my eye? An apple 🍎 party in Malcolm X Park!
I’m bummed to have missed it, but I enjoyed reading comments about it in this Reddit thread, from which I pulled some silly quotes:

The guy who threw the party, Carl Endrulat, apparently had planned to share apples but was told he couldn’t because of public health concerns. So the Reddit thread continues…

I plan to join writer Foley O’Brien on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 6, for “Words for Birds” — a hike and writing session in Rock Creek Park. “We'll use our surroundings and bird sightings to generate a word bank … we'll use said word banks in a generative session lasting about an hour,” the event description says.
I have no idea what that means but decided not to ask for more info. I’ll just give it a go.

“This is what it was like in Bethany Beach this past Sunday as everyone is trying to vacation before school starts,” she wrote to me.
“My husband and I spent a few days at the beach including the weekend as he had plans with friends to play golf. I love getting steps so I walked to Bethany. It was more crowded than I had ever seen.”
